HCS art teacher Mona Cunnikin shares her talent for charity

Mona Cunnikin, art teacher at Bassette Elementary School, recently shared her talent and love of art by donating her time at the Community Garden Association Gala at the Topsail Restaurant in Hampton. She conducted a live painting at the event and her painting was then donated for the auction.

Cunnikin’s artwork was also displayed at the Artists Alliance of East Hampton’s Autumn Blaze art show on October 1 through 3, 2021.

“It was my first time ever doing a painting live in front of a crowd,” said Cunnikin. “Thank goodness I had my headphones and music. It took the nerves right away.”

2021 Teacher of the Year

Mr. Midlik has been the Health and Physical Education Teacher at Bassette for 12 years and has been the Bethel High Girls Soccer Coach for 10 years. This is his 2nd time being awarded as Teacher of the Year in his 15 years of teaching! When asked why he chose Physical Education he replied, "I chose PE because I want my students to understand the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle. I enjoy getting to know my students and watching them grow over the years." Congrats Mr. Midlik!!
