COVID-19 UPDATE & School Closure Information

3/23/20: Shortly after 2:00 p.m. today, the Governor extended the school closure for all Virginia PreK-12 schools in the Commonwealth. Schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.

Within 24 hours, the Virginia Department of Education will be providing school divisions guidance on continued teaching and learning, graduation requirements for the class of 2020, and the issuing of standard and verified credits.

While our schools are closed for the remainder of this school year, students and families should continue to utilize the HCS Alternative Learning Plans website. Our HCS team remains committed to continuing our core business of teaching and learning. Additional HCS resources will be launched and we will communicate this to our families in a timely manner, as well as other pertinent information.

We will continue to provide grab-and-go meals for anyone 18 years of age and younger at our seven designated school sites. Information regarding site locations and operational hours can be found on the school division’s website.

We thank you for your understanding and support as we work through what has become a “new norm” for the remainder of this school year. We will keep you updated on new or changing information as it becomes available. Thank you.
